Always stay at the beach area and train until you are level 4 or 5. Then, go to the low-desert and train until you are level 7 or 8. After that, go to the midlands and train until you are level 12 or 13. Next, you should train in the highlands until you are level 17. You could go to the godlands next, but it is NOT recommended to go to the godlands until you are level 19 or 20. This guide may also help you with advanced classes, but they obviously are more complex, so at the same time, it might not. Please DO NOT give me the credit for this strategy, I learned it from my brother (ROTMG username: PhantoZone ). He has played ROTMG even longer than I have.
Basic Classes Guide
Yes. I said guides. Not guide, but guides.

All ROTMG classes use weapons, but they all use different ones. The Wizard, Necromancer, and Mystic classes all use staves. The Priest and the Sorcerer use wands. The Warrior, the Knight, and the Paladin use swords. The Archer and the Huntress use bows. The Rogue, the Assassin, and the Trickster use daggers. Finally, the Ninja uses a katana. Here are displayed some of the better weapons (Tiers 7-12) that you can find. All weapons can be found in the Highlands or Godlands, and some can be found in the Midlands.
